Fem-Shot Q & A

The Women's Health Center

What is the Fem-Shot?

The Fem-Shot is a non-surgical procedure using blood-derived growth factors to rejuvenate the vagina to help relieve women with urinary incontinence and problems with sex. The procedure begins with a simple blood draw, then the blood is spun by a centrifuge to separate platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and injected into the treatment areas of the numbed vagina. This fast and painless procedure stimulates collagen and elastin growth to increase sensitivity, desire, improve vaginal dryness, and tightens vaginal skin while also relieving urinary incontinence. There is no recovery time and results are almost immediate in some women.

What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

Platelet-rich plasma is a component of your own blood that contains proteins that support cell growth. Injecting PRP into your body is known to help your body repair damaged tissues and help stimulate new, healthy cell growth and promote healing.

Who can benefit from the Fem-Shot?

Almost anyone can benefit from the Fem-Shot. The Fem-Shot is used to treat women suffering from urinary
incontinence, vaginal dryness, reduced sexual responsiveness, painful intercourse, and decreased
clitoral sensitivity. Additional benefits include improved texture of the vulva, tighter vaginal opening,
increased arousal, and more intense and frequent orgasms.

How is the Fem-Shot different from other hormone therapies?

The Fem-Shot differs from other hormone therapies in that it uses your own blood to directly treat and rejuvenate the tissue of the vagina and clitoris. While traditional hormone therapies might work to improve vaginal dryness and increase libido, problems with sensitivity and achieving orgasm still persist. Urinary incontinence cannot be resolved with other hormone therapies.
